Speak Chinese, get English: how to set up voice translation.

Start with a short message you can check. Use Translate on the capsule or a configured Translation shortcut.

1. Choose your target language

Open Settings > Voice & translation > Translation > Translate to. Search for a language, select it and save it. This target is shared by the capsule and Translation shortcut.

2. Choose translation cleanup

In Settings > Voice & translation > Translation, choose whether AI cleanup of translated text is on. This choice applies to new translation recordings. Use Translate on the capsule to begin.

3. Or use the Translation shortcut

The default Translation shortcut is Right Shift + Right Alt (Windows), Right Shift + Right Option (Mac) or Left Ctrl + Left Alt + Y (Linux); you can change it on the Home screen. It starts a new translation recording with the saved target language and translation cleanup choice; it does not translate selected text.

Ordinary voice input keeps the language you speak and uses your Style choice. Translation uses the capsule Translate action or the Translation shortcut.

4. Record, stop and review

Focus a compatible text field and use the shortcut for the option you chose. With Live transcription display on, the capsule preview shows your original recognized words. Stop recording to prepare the translated result, then review it in the text field. Copy and paste if automatic insertion is unavailable.

Recognition and translation need an internet connection and a signed-in account; Free also needs remaining allowance. Check names, numbers and meaning before sending the text.

5. Translate a saved passage later

Open History, find a voice record and choose Translate or Translate again in More actions. This needs the saved original transcript; you can choose a target and translation mode for that operation, and previous versions remain available.

Why does selecting a spoken language not translate my words?

Input languages guides recognition. Translation needs a target language and starts with Translate on the capsule or a configured Translation shortcut.

Why does the translation shortcut not start?

Check the Translation shortcut on the Home screen (by default Right Shift + Right Alt on Windows, Right Shift + Right Option on Mac, Left Ctrl + Left Alt + Y on Linux), that a target language is saved, and that the combination does not conflict with another shortcut. Use the binding shown in the app.

Can I keep my earlier result when I translate again?

Yes. Completed translations of saved History records add result versions. You can switch back to an earlier saved version.
