How to speak Spanish and get English text
- In SayDart, open Settings > Voice & translation > Translation > Translate to. Search for English, select it and save.
- Optional: under Input languages, pick Spanish so recognition knows what to expect, or leave it on automatic detection.
- Click into the text box where the English should go.
- Press the Translation shortcut and speak Spanish: Right Shift + Right Alt on Windows, Right Shift + Right Option on Mac, Left Ctrl + Left Alt + Y on Linux.
- Stop when you're done. The English translation lands at your cursor.
What you see while you talk
With Live transcription display on, the capsule shows the Spanish words SayDart heard while you say them. The English version is prepared after you stop, so you can check the preview caught what you meant.
Natural English, not word-for-word
Turn on AI cleanup of translated text in Settings > Voice & translation > Translation, and the English comes out smooth instead of word-for-word. Turn it off when you want the translation without that extra polish.
Where it helps
- Writing to English-speaking coworkers or clients when you think faster in Spanish.
- Answering customers in English from a help desk or chat window.
- Drafting English emails, posts and notes without a translator tab and copy-paste in between.
- Explaining a task to an AI tool in Spanish and sending the prompt in English.
English to Spanish, and other languages
Change the target to Spanish and it works the other way round: speak English, get Spanish text. SayDart recognizes speech in 30 languages and writes in 303 target languages and variants, so the same shortcut works for Portuguese, French, Chinese and more.
Translate something you already said
Dictated in Spanish without translating? If the original transcript is saved in History, open it, choose Translate in More actions and pick English. You get the English version and keep the original.
What SayDart is not
- Not a spoken interpreter. SayDart writes the translation as text; it doesn't read it aloud.
- Not a phone app. It runs on Windows, Mac (beta) and Linux (beta) computers.
- Not offline. Recognition and translation need an internet connection.
For a face-to-face conversation with someone in front of you, a phone translator app with a conversation mode is the better fit.
Try it free
SayDart Free gives you an allowance every 7 days on Windows, Mac and Linux. Download the app, set English as your target and say your first Spanish sentence.
